music for fantasy podcasts (Audio Dramas)
I’ve only recently stepped into the Fantasy Podcast space (also known as Audio Dramas), but I’ve really enjoyed it so far. Podcasts are unique because they are audio-only productions, which force listeners to use their imagination for the visuals. As a composer, this is interesting because I’m charged with scoring a story without visuals; my mission is to match the pace of the audio with emotionally-charged music appropriate for the moment, meanwhile tasked with creating a large emotional arc for the overall episode or series story line.
This unique challenge often inspires me to compose in new ways, such as composing stacks of layers for the editor to assemble as they wish or to score a transition between scenes where music is the only actor. In other cases, clients simply need intro and outro tracks for their show. I look forward to scoring your podcast soon.
