Growing up, I loved playing video games and watching TV & movies. Every free moment was spent engrossed in the incredible worlds of The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong Country, Dragonball Z, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, etc. Each sweeping melodic soundtrack captivated me and permanently imprinted its story. This inspired me to begin playing piano by ear as a means to recapture the joyful memories from each story.
My parents noticed my inclination for music at an early age and encouraged me to take piano lessons. As I studied the works of classical composers, my technical skills increased dramatically. As I grew more confident as a musician, I began writing my own tunes in the style of my favorite video game and film composers.
In middle school, I began playing the violin to perform more lyrical music and to have a portable instrument. I joined the school Orchestra and fell in love with playing in a large ensemble. In high school, I became much more serious about honing my musical skills by performing in both the school Orchestra & Chorus, while preparing to pursue piano performance as a college degree. During this time, I discovered the excitement of writing my own video game and film music using a laptop.
In 2012, I graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.M. in Piano Performance. My experience was life-changing: I regularly performed in the Symphony Orchestra, Chorus, Percussion Ensemble, & small ensembles; had private composition lessons; accompanied soloists; took music business & conducting classes; and began composing for commercial video games & films. After graduation, I decided to pursue more education to master my music composition, production, & business skills.
In 2014, I graduated from Columbia College Chicago with an MFA in Music Composition for the Screen. This experience was equally life-changing: I learned from industry masters how to effectively compose & produce music for video games & film. I had the incredible opportunity to record & conduct original scores with Chicago Symphony Orchestra musicians at the Chicago Recording Center & Los Angeles Philharmonic musicians at Capitol Records. At the end of the program, I had the pleasure of interning with composer Joel Goodman (Finding Elmo, The American Experience) and assisting composer Garry Schyman (Bioshock, Shadow of Mordor).
Directly after graduating, I moved back to Atlanta, GA where I married my wife Natalie. I became the remote assistant to composer Penka Kouneva (Gears of War 3, Prince of Persia) while pursuing a career as a freelance musician. I partnered with Vision1 Music and Audio Jungle and have since licensed hundreds of music tracks on hit NBC, CBS, & FOX television shows, commercials, & films. I also partnered with Materia Collective, where I arrange & remix video game music.
When I’m not in the studio, I serve as a keyboardist at 12Stone Church. I love spending time with friends & family, eating delicious food, playing video games, and watching TV & movies.
